From Knife River to Lutsen, North Shore Area Partners supports older adults in the northern half of Lake County — helping people live well, stay connected, and remain in their homes for as long as possible. What began as a volunteer-driven effort has grown into a trusted community nonprofit offering home care, volunteer rides, and social programs that make aging in place possible along Minnesota’s North Shore.

At the heart of their mission is a simple belief: older adults deserve to age with dignity, purpose, and connection. Through compassionate home care and creative programs like Reading Pals — where third graders visit every other week to read with older adults — NSAP helps foster meaningful relationships. The NSAP community center in Silver Bay is more than a gathering space; it’s a lifeline during long, cold winters. There, NSAP hosts activities, events, and accessible resources that bring neighbors together and strengthen community ties.

Support from The Victory Fund has helped North Shore Area Partners expand community awareness and outreach efforts, reaching more residents who may not yet know about the services and support available to them. This partnership reflects The Victory Fund’s mission to strengthen community well-being across northeastern Minnesota— empowering local organizations that build connections, enhance access to care, and help every person feel supported where they live.

“There are so many more things we’re able to offer now” says Care Navigator/Home Care Manager Ericka Blanchard. "Our incredible team works every day to make sure our neighbors have the information and support they need.”

Looking ahead, North Shore Area Partners continues to build on that legacy — expanding outreach, deepening connections, and ensuring older adults across the North Shore can remain independent and engaged in the community they love.
